Understanding Co-Living: Why It Is Perfect for Longer Stays

While BeliveandMore also offers hotel accommodation, its co-living concept is particularly attractive for people planning to stay in Macau for several months.

Co-living is a modern housing model that combines the privacy of your own room with shared spaces designed to encourage social interaction and community building. Instead of renting a traditional apartment, residents join a ready-made environment where many practical aspects of daily life are already organized.

For Erasmus students, interns, exchange students, young professionals, digital nomads, and expats, co-living offers several advantages:

  • A faster way to build a social network in a new city.
  • Flexible rental periods suited to academic semesters and work placements.
  • Furnished accommodation with essential services (washing machine, free cleaning service at least once a week, monthly events on the rooftop, private room, two bathrooms, all bills, 5G wifi, etc.) already included.
  • An international environment that encourages cultural exchange.
  • More convenience and less administrative hassle compared to traditional rentals.

My Experience in Belive&More

I first arrived in Macau in January 2024 as an exchange student at the l'Università di Macao.

Although the university offered accommodation, I decided to stay at BeliveandMore instead. I wanted to experience life in the city while still having my own private space. University dormitories are often shared, while at BeliveandMore every resident enjoys the privacy of their own room while still being able to network with other people.

Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I made during my Erasmus semester and in my life, in general.

BeliveandMore was much more than a place to sleep. It was where I built friendships that continue to this day. Through the community, I met people from all over the world, expanded my professional network, and discovered opportunities that eventually brought me back to Macau under a working visa after completing my exchange programme. Even today, at the end of 2026, many of those people remain close friends.

In a city like Macau, networking matters. With just 33.3 square kilometres of land and a highly connected international community, the people you meet can become friends, colleagues, business contacts, and future opportunities.

Some of my favourite memories are surprisingly simple: rooftop evenings with friends, a guitar being played under the night sky, conversations that lasted for hours, celebrations, parties, and study sessions before exams.

One particular evening, a friend was playing guitar on the rooftop while my partner and I sang along.

Today, we are still together and living together, a story that started thanks to the connections created through the Belive&More community.

When my Erasmus ended and I later returned to Macau for work, I realised how much I missed that atmosphere. Co-living gave me a sense of belonging that would have been difficult to find in a private apartment or a traditional student dormitory.
If you decide to stay at BeliveandMore, whether in the hotel or the co-living residence, feel free to mention me: Andrea Pimpini. I am always happy to hear that another student, professional, or traveller is beginning their own Macau journey in a place that played such an important role in mine.

Discover the Authentic Side of Macau

One of the biggest advantages of staying at BeliveandMore is its location. It may seem far from the University of Macau or Taipa, but it’s just above a bus stop that has practically all lines connecting it to every other part of the city.

Situated in the historic area of Macau Peninsula, it allows residents to experience a side of the city that many visitors never see. While most tourists focus exclusively on the famous resorts and casinos of Cotai, staying in the old city offers a deeper connection with Macau’s unique cultural identity.

Walking through nearby streets, local markets, cafes, heritage buildings, and traditional restaurants provides an authentic perspective on everyday life in Macau.

For students from Europe, including fellow Italians studying abroad, this cultural immersion can become one of the most rewarding aspects of the entire exchange experience.

FAQ

Is Belive&More a hotel or a co-living space?

Belive&More offers both. Travellers can book hotel accommodation for short stays, while students, interns, digital nomads, and professionals can choose the co-living option for longer stays in Macau.

Is Belive&More suitable for Erasmus and exchange students in Macau?

Yes. Flexible stay options, private rooms, an international community, and opportunities to build friendships make it one of the most convenient accommodation choices for exchange students in Macau.

Why choose co-living instead of a university dormitory?

Co-living gives you the privacy of your own room while still allowing you to meet people through shared spaces and community activities. It offers a balance between independence, comfort, and social life that many traditional dormitories cannot provide.

Can co-living help me build a network in Macau?

Absolutely. Macau is a small but highly connected city where personal relationships often lead to friendships, internships, job opportunities, and long-term professional connections. Co-living naturally makes networking easier.
